The Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani, Somm.ai and Colangelo & Partners are proud to celebrate the legacy of Ben Oberto through a scholarship designed to strengthen the bond between the Langhe region and the U.S. wine community.
The Ben Oberto Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the life and legacy of Ben Oberto, widely known in the U.S. wine community as “The Barolo Guy.” A passionate advocate for Piedmont’s wines, Ben was a mentor, a friend, and a tireless ambassador for the Langhe. His unexpected passing in 2024 left a deep void, but also inspired a shared commitment to carry forward his humility, generosity, and love for Nebbiolo.
Launched in partnership with Somm.ai, the Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani, and Colangelo & Partners, the annual scholarship offers one U.S.-based wine professional the opportunity to travel to the Langhe for an immersive educational experience, including participation in Grandi Langhe and the Barolo & Barbaresco Academy.
The program is designed to foster lasting connections between Piedmont and the U.S. wine trade, just as Ben did throughout his career.
